We specifically seek out adult dogs with ideal temperaments, excellent structure, and beautiful color. We do our research so that you can rest assured you're getting a healthy puppy with outstanding and trustworthy genetics.
The German Shepherd was originally bred as a herding dog and used for herding sheep back in 1899. German Shepherds were commonly used in World War I. Since then, the German Shepherd has been used for multiple aspects of work. This includes, but is not limited to, being a service dog, search-and-rescue dog, police dog, emotional support animal, and being a forever companion.
Today, many people refer to the German Shepherd as one of the most intelligent dog breeds. Their intelligence comes from their fast and retentive memory which helps them remember words, tricks, and commands. Trainers commonly state that the German Shepherd can learn commands in fewer than five repetitions.
Most importantly, the German Shepherd is known for being loyal and dedicated. They go above and beyond to love their family and please those who love them.
There are many different colors and coat types of German Shepherds. We specifically seek out dogs with stunning red and black coats. Occasionally, we have tan and black females. Almost all our dogs have medium-long hair giving them beautiful mains on their necks. On the very rare occasion, we get a long hair puppy due to recessive genes. We can tell as a puppy if it will have long hair or medium hair.
The exercise requirements of a German Shepherd vary greatly based on their age. Adults typically need 1.5 to 2 hours of exercise every day in order to meet both their physical and mental needs. Our adult dogs each have different levels of athleticism. Let us know if you are seeking a more laid back puppy or a future hiking buddy and we can meet your needs to find a puppy who will fit in well with your families daily activities.
Like any dog, a German Shepherd can have many types of temperaments depending on the nurture and nature of the dog. We specifically breed dogs with loyal, confident, courageous, intelligent, and watchful temperaments. We have found these temperaments to be what we, as well as many others, look for in a family dog.
